In honor of this years' Olympics...
Who won the United States first Gold Metal?? What event was it for??

I think it was a guy named Dan.. And wasn't it for speed skating? Thats usually the first Event.. AND Kwan QUIT the Olympics..Thats saddening..

I think Jag is right, the in line rollerblade champ turned speed skater. I don't remember his name but he is from Texas. So sad for Apollo. Oh..NO...
hey, soes anyone know what the five circles and colors signify? I used to know but forgot.

Well, It was the Texan speed skater who won the first US gold this year. Kwan did do the noble team thing. The five rings are composed of colors that are represented in every flag, therefore symbolizing the unity of the games.

it was the texan in line rollerblade champ turned speed skater, named Chad Hedrik, who won the first U.S. gold medal in the men's 5000m...i agree that Kwan did do a good thing for the team, it was very noble of her to put the team before herself...
